| What's Happening at KMS... Dear Parent and/or Guardian, Can you believe that there are only 8 weeks of school left? This school year has been very successful, and we have watched students grow academically, physically, and emotionally. The 8th graders are busy preparing for high school. They have visited their respective high schools, been through orientation, and signed up for freshman classes. Hardin Valley Academy and Karns High School do an excellent job. I don’t know if I could survive without my PDA, cell phone, computer, internet, and all the technology tools available, but I have growing concerns on how technology is being manipulated. Parents, do you know what your child is doing with technology? Are they in chat rooms, receiving inappropriate text messages, or taking inappropriate pictures with their phones? I encourage you to find out. Limit their time on the computer and become knowledgeableabout technology. Technology was intended to enhance, not corrupt our lives. I am proud to announce that Ms. Nita Harrison (Computer) and Mr. Daniel Champion (Resource) have been selected as KMS Teachers of the Year by their peers. These are two most worthy individuals who do an incredible job for our school and students. Terra Nova Testing is right around the corner. This is primarily how our school is rated and evaluated according to state standards. The testing will be Wednesday, April 15-Monday, April 20. It is critical that your children have good meals, adequate sleep, and be mentally prepared for 2-3 hours of testing each day. Please ensure that students are at school by 8:30, and do not schedule any appointments during these days if possible. Thank you for your cooperation and support in this matter. We sincerely thank you for a great year. There will always be fond memories of the 8th grade class, and we know they will be very successful in their future endeavors. ** COUPON BOOK SALE UPDATE **
Thanks to all our students and parents for a great coupon campaign! We sold 5200 coupon books this year!! The proceeds of this year's campaign will go toward purchasing 12-14 Smart-Boards (Interactive whiteboard) for our teachers. This will provide a Smart-Board for every Math teacher in our building! Be sure to check our Calendar for important dates!
